Transportation in Shipping Containers

Shipping containers are often used for sea freight forwarding if the equipment exceeds the RoRo height limitation (around 14ft) and will fit inside a container that is 20ft or 40ft long and 8.5ft tall. Extra-tall containers are also an option; at 9.5ft tall, these provide a bit of extra room. In certain cases, items are disassembled in order to be inserted into a shipping container for transportation by sea.

Using shipping containers rather than RoRo can be cheaper, but this will depend on certain factors such as handling costs at the port of departure and arrival. FCLs and LCLs

If you are transporting a smaller size of cargo, hiring a private shipping container for your cargo will usually mean it arrives at its destination more quickly. Hiring private, full container loads (FCLs) means your consignment will be subject to fewer delays than if it shares less than container loads (LCLs) with other businesses or individuals.
