TSL Australia is an expert in arranging the carriage of breakbulk cargo, large equipment, materials and vehicles by road. Our experts work with professionals in a range of sectors, helping them transport the following types of items:
The vehicles we use to perform heavy haulage in Sydney are sturdy, strong and resilient. They are equipped with special features to enable the safe transportation of heavy and oversized items. These may include collapsible mirrors, grabrails, cameras, side marker lamps and aerodynamic technology. Such safety features ensure your property is taken good care of, from loading right through to delivery. Some vehicles can be steered from the back; this ensures they stay firmly on the ground when reaching top speeds and turning tight corners.
Rigid trucks: These types of lorry have at least two (and up to five) axles fitted to the frame. They are used to transport large items across well-maintained roads.
Articulated trucks: These can handle rougher roads and are more flexible due to a pivot joint which allows them to turn more sharply.
Flat-bed trucks: These rigid lorries have flat trailers and are often used for transporting large, bulky items such as concrete pipes or steel girders. Cargo may be contained between blocks or lashed to impede movement during transit.
Side-loaders: This type of truck can be loaded from the side, making it easier when there’s limited space. It means the truck can remain facing one way and won’t block the road.
Low-loaders: With two drops in their deck height, these semi-trailers can be used to accommodate taller loads such as bulldozers.
Prime movers: These heavy-duty towing engines are designed to haul trailered loads.
For your peace of mind, most of the vehicles TSL uses have been accredited under Australia’s National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).
As well as the vehicles themselves, a wide range of equipment may be used to assist during heavy haulage operations.
Forklifts: These small industrial trucks are used to move small pieces of cargo, for example boxes of dry goods, over short distances. They’ll also often be used to load and unload goods.
Cranes: Used to lift loads that cannot be rolled on and off the transportation vehicle.
Platform/flat-bed trailers: Attached to the back of prime movers or articulated trucks to transport loads or equipment. They can usually be loaded/unloaded from the sides.
Jinkers and Dollies: These are trailer extensions that are added to the main vehicle in order to maximise weight-lifting capacity and distribute the load. Jinkers are often used for transporting logs.
